Spectacular – is the only word to describe THE SANCTUARY Port Douglas.  Lazing in the large horizon edge pool overlooking cane fields, Port Douglas and the Coral Sea beyond it’s easy to leave the world behind.  Nestled in the tranquillity of the surrounding rainforest yet only a few minutes drive to Macrossan Street shops and restaurants we were amazed by the feeling of calm and serenity in this grand tropical retreat.  Ocean view sunset cocktails lounging on the enormous balcony will remain etched in our memory.  As good as it gets in Port Douglas.  Leigh Ratcliffe

From its exclusive hillside position this home offers a breathtaking panoramic view that encompasses Port Douglas, the Coral Sea and beyond to the Great Barrier Reef.

The surrounding rainforest provides privacy in a lush natural environment, while its convenient location offers easy access to Port Douglas and its attractions.

The Sanctuary’s design embraces Queensland’s tropical lifestyle with its vast space that can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests in 6 en-suite bedrooms over two levels.

   

Entering the property is just the beginning of an exciting journey of discovery and a delight in itself. The secure gated driveway winds through the world heritage listed rainforest on its way to the hillside house parking area that includes garage space for three vehicles and outdoor space for several more.

To access the house the guests can use the front entry leading to the two living levels from the garage or alternatively use the ramp that takes you to the main (upper) living level.  Both levels are wheelchair friendly.

Located on the upper main level are 3 king-size bedrooms each with their own en-suite and outstanding view. The 90m2 master bedroom features spacious closets, double vanity, large walk-in shower, jet spa bath and bidet.

The upper level also comprises the vast living and dining space featuring 2 large dining tables, comfortable couches and large screen TV. A fully equipped open kitchen with sea views (including dishwasher, oven, microwave and two large fridges and freezers) with separate pantry perfectly integrates with the living and dining areas. Just next to the kitchen the guests can access the laundry room equipped with washing machine and dryer, iron and ironing board. A stand alone guest powder room is also situated on this floor. The huge, full length front balcony takes full advantage of the ocean and the unique surrounding world heritage view.

A waterfall feature enhances the dreamlike tropical atmosphere in the rear entertaining and cocktail verandah situated just off the main living level.

   

The lower level is fitted out with another three generous king sized bedrooms (or two king single beds in each room on request) complete with en-suite bathrooms and their own spectacular view.

The substantial balconies in front of the rooms form a vast entertaining area connected to the pool entrance where the bar/kitchen facility is also located.

The glass-gated private pool facility contains the heated (in winter months) saltwater-chlorinated infinity swimming pool and heated spa, large wooden deck with sunshade umbrella, and comfortable sun lounges where guests can relax and enjoy the unimpeded 180-degree view.

There are fans throughout the house and ducted air-conditioning on both levels, which is rarely required because of the tropical sea breezes.

The Sanctuary is perfect for numerous families with children but also ideal for couples retreats or a group of friends travelling together.

24/7 inclusive Wi-Fi and 4G phone signal coverage throughout most of the house for music streaming.
